Description

What is the Mesa Trail II suitable for?

The Mesa Trail II is suitable for day hikes in low mountain ranges, early morning trail runs, and long distances on gravel and forest paths. At 221g per shoe in size 42, it is even lighter than the original Mesa Trail.

Space in the forefoot: The foot-shaped toe box allows your toes to spread out instead of being squeezed together. Combined with a zero-drop design: 11.5 mm stack height with zero drop keeps you close to the ground and provides more feedback than a classic hiking sole as a barefoot hiking shoe.

Grip on changing terrain: The lugs provide grip on forest floors, loose gravel, and firm dirt paths. Wet rock and damp roots remain slippery—this tread pattern does not change that.

Breathable instead of waterproof: The mesh lets air in, and water with it. Protection is provided instead by the welded components, the thin toe cap, and the reinforced sidewalls.

In the package: 1 pair of Xero Shoes Mesa Trail II for men, packed in our plastic-free packaging.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I wear socks with these shoes?

Yes, absolutely. The term "barefoot shoe" refers to the feeling of movement (wide toe box, thin flexible sole, zero drop), not to the bare foot.

How much space should there be in the front of the shoe?

Allow for 12–17 mm in addition to your foot length.

Is the insole removable in this shoe?

Yes, the insole can be removed. Without it, you get more ground feel; with it, you get a bit more cushioning.

I am wearing barefoot shoes for the first time – what should I look out for?

Soreness in your calves and the soles of your feet is normal during the first few weeks – your muscles are being challenged in a new way. Start with 30–60 minutes a day and increase gradually. If you have existing foot complaints or joint problems, consult your doctor or orthopedist before switching.

Is the shoe waterproof in the rain?

No, the mesh is designed for breathability and absorbs moisture. If you are often out in wet weather, you are better off with a model that has a membrane.
