What is the Xero Shoes Phoenix Knit suitable for?

As a flat everyday shoe for the city, for working from home, and for long days on your feet. The stretchy knit gives way when walking instead of pressing on the ball of the foot.

Vegan upper with recycled content: The breathable knit is made from certified recycled fibers, wicks away moisture, and remains UV-resistant. No animal products are used.

Room for the forefoot: The foot-shaped toe box allows toes to spread and relax – a barefoot shoe for wide feet, without a tight fit at the ball of the foot. The 5.0 mm thin sole with zero drop provides more ground feedback than a classic ballet flat sole.

Quick on, quick off: The Phoenix Knit does not require any fasteners – you just slip them on and you're on your way.

Can I wear socks with these shoes?

Yes, absolutely. The name "barefoot shoe" describes the feeling of movement (wide toe box, thin flexible sole, zero drop), not a bare foot.

How much space should be in the front of the shoe?

Plan for an extra 12–17 mm beyond your foot length.

Is the insole removable in this shoe?

Yes, the 3.5 mm thick insole can be removed. This allows you to choose how much ground feel you want.

I am wearing barefoot shoes for the first time – what should I look out for?

Soreness in your calves and the soles of your feet is normal during the first few weeks – your muscles are being challenged in a new way. Start with 30–60 minutes a day and increase gradually. If you have existing foot ailments or joint problems, consult your doctor or orthopedist before switching.

Can the Phoenix Knit go in the washing machine?

No. The manufacturer recommends hand washing with warm water and mild soap and advises against using a washing machine or dryer.
