What is the Xero Shoes HFS suitable for?

A lightweight road running shoe for your daily asphalt lap – and everything that follows. At around 224 g per shoe (size 42), the HFS is a lightweight.

Secure grip on asphalt: The rubber sole is modeled on a tire tread and offers noticeable traction on the road. 5 mm sole with zero drop – noticeably more feedback than in a cushioned running shoe.

Room where your foot needs it: The foot-shaped toe box allows your toes to spread instead of squishing them together. If you remove the insole, you sit even flatter and feel more of the ground.

Dry climate in the shoe: The mesh upper lets air through, and the silky lining wicks moisture away.

Can I wear socks with these shoes?

Yes, absolutely. The name "barefoot shoe" describes the feeling of movement (wide toe box, thin flexible sole, zero drop), not a bare foot.

How much room should there be at the front of the shoe?

Plan for an additional 12–17 mm beyond your foot length.

Is the insole removable in this shoe?

Yes, the insole can be removed. Without it, you get even closer to the barefoot feeling.

I am wearing barefoot shoes for the first time – what should I look out for?

Soreness in your calves and soles is normal during the first few weeks – your muscles are being challenged in a new way. Start with 30–60 minutes a day and increase gradually. If you have existing foot complaints or joint problems, consult your doctor or orthopedist before switching.

Is the HFS waterproof?

No. The mesh upper allows water to pass through – a model with a membrane is better suited for wet conditions.
