What is the Xero Shoes HFS suitable for?

The HFS in Glacier Blue is built as a lightweight road running shoe and also looks great when you're not out for a run.

Traction without the bulk: Xero Shoes based the sole tread on a tire; it grips well on asphalt and paving slabs. The 5 mm sole with a zero-drop design keeps you close to the ground.

Breathability: Breathable mesh upper, combined with a silky lining that wicks away moisture – even on warm days.

The foot works for itself: The wide toe box and flexible sole allow for natural movement. The insole can be removed for a more direct ground feel.

Can I wear socks with these shoes?

Yes, absolutely. The name "barefoot shoe" describes the sensation of movement (wide toe box, thin flexible sole, zero drop), not a bare foot.

How much space should there be in the front of the shoe?

Plan for 12–17 mm in addition to your foot length.

Is the insole in this shoe removable?

Yes, the insole can be removed. Without it, you get even closer to the barefoot feeling.

I am wearing barefoot shoes for the first time – what do I need to look out for?

Soreness in your calves and the soles of your feet is normal in the first few weeks – your muscles are being challenged in a new way. Start with 30–60 minutes a day and increase gradually. If you have existing foot or joint problems, talk to your doctor or orthopedist before making the switch.

Can I wear the HFS in wet conditions too?

Wear them, yes; stay dry, no: The mesh upper is not waterproof. For wet weather, a shoe with a membrane is more suitable.
